Frequently Asked Questions

Most consulting engagements are scoped to fixed-fee deliverables with defined milestones; some longer engagements use a monthly retainer with deliverable-based release. Time-and-materials is used selectively where scope is genuinely uncertain at the outset. Every engagement begins with a scoping conversation followed by a written proposal listing deliverables, timeline, team, and fees — there are no surprises.

Some do; some don't. U.R.P. & Associates assesses independence before accepting any consulting engagement for an audit client, applying ICAN's Code of Ethics. Services creating self-review or advocacy threats are declined where safeguards cannot adequately address the threat. For non-audit clients, the question doesn't arise. The assessment is documented and, where appropriate, communicated to the client's audit committee.

Yes, in advisory capacity. We support requirements definition, vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, implementation governance, and user acceptance testing. We do not act as a system integrator or implementation partner for ERP vendors — keeping us independent of the vendors lets us advise objectively on selection. For implementation execution, we work alongside the chosen integrator on the client's behalf.

Diagnostic engagements typically run four to eight weeks. Implementation engagements run three months to a year depending on scope. Transformation programmes — full finance function rebuilds, major ERP transitions — can extend across two years with multiple phases. We design engagements to deliver value at each milestone rather than only at the end, so clients can re-scope as priorities shift.

Senior consultants and partners. U.R.P. & Associates does not pyramid-staff consulting engagements with junior teams supervised remotely. The day-to-day work is done by experienced consultants with relevant sector and functional background; partners are actively engaged on strategy, design, and client relationship. Clients meet the people who will do their work before signing the engagement.
